The method involves detecting the position of a vehicle based on the rotation of the vehicle around an x-axis, and the state of the vehicle based on rotation around the x-axis by a rotary rate sensor (1). The acceleration of the vehicle is determined in the direction of a Z-axis by an acceleration sensor (2). A detection is made whether the vehicle is present in the housed position. Automatic unlocking of the vehicle is made upon detection of the housed position, by the sensors. A hinge-joint of a leaf-door is partly destroyed upon detection of the housed position, by the sensors.
