METHOD FOR EXECUTING AUTO ADJUSTMENT IN A DVD SYSTEM

A method for executing auto adjustment in a DVD recording/playing system is provided to measure PI/PO(Parity Inner Code/Parity Outer Code) values in a predetermined area of the optical disk and to carry out auto adjustment when the PI/PO values are less than a pre-set reference level so as to confirm that the reproduction is stable. A method for executing auto adjustment in a DVD recording/playing system comprises: checking whether an optical disk is inserted(S200); moving the optical pickup to the initial position for recording or reproducing the optical disk by turning on a servo part(S202); measuring PI/PO values in the area of the optical disk where the optical pickup is placed(S204); judging whether the PI/PO values are less than a reference level(S206); moving the optical pickup to another area of the optical disk by driving a sled motor(S208); carrying out adjustment of the optical disk(S210); and standing by a reproducing or recording command with respect to the optical disk(S212).
