The method involves forming a welding joint with complete penetration via a keyhole obtained by laser beam delivered from front side of metal parts. Plasma is created in a protective gas from rear side of the metal parts by using a part of power transmitted across the keyhole, during formation of the welding point, to trigger appearance of the plasma in the gas from the rear side. - The gas is selected from argon/oxygen, argon/carbon dioxide, carbon dioxide, oxygen, helium/oxygen or helium/carbon dioxide.
