METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PARAMETRIC ENCODING AND PARAMETRIC DECODING

A method and an apparatus for parametric encoding and decoding are provided to encode all or some component signals of an encoded object time section and to generate a parameter for preventing generation of each parameter for all the component signals and finding the similar time sections easily, thereby increasing encoding efficiency using the index information as a parameter. A method for encoding an audio signal comprises: detecting the most similar transient signal to recent transient signals(310); detecting a time section where a component signal similar to a component signal of an encoded object time section exists(320); encoding all or some of the component signals of the encoded object time section by a normal parametric encoding method to generate a parameter(330); and encoding all or some of the component signals of the encoded object time section by generating index information of the similar time section based on the detection success(340). Prediction information is used as a parameter for the component signals.
