A device for monitoring respiration comprises a gas duct 11, a restriction 13 in the duct 11, and at least one pressure sensor 14 arranged in the duct 11. The pressure sensor 14 is adapted to measure the pressure drop across the restriction 13 as the pressure difference between a location in the duct 11 at a first side of the restriction 13 and a known, substantially constant pressure arranged at a second side of the restriction 13. The device may also comprise a processing unit adapted to calculate flow and volume of the respiration. |
