The inventive system for delivering multimedia digital documents via a telecommunications network comprises document server means(10) which are used for carrying out a streaming distribution of said documents to terminals (30) of users connected to a network (20) and each of which is provided with a reading interface (32) for reading a real-time multimedia digital documents. The inventive document server means comprises a media content server (11) containing a set of multimedia digital documents, wherein each document is associated to a reading index whose each value marks the predetermined portion of the document, index determining means (12) used for determining, at a given time while transmitting any document of the media content server to the user's terminal, the reading index value, called a current index value, corresponding to the document portion transmissible at that time, transmission triggering means (12) for triggering the transmission of any document of the media content server to the user's terminal from the document portion marked according to the reading index value, which is pre-determined by said index determining means.
