A backlight unit and an LCD device including the same are provided to enable the inside of extending portions protruded to the outside of an optical sheet to adhere closely to a containing member to limit the position of the optical sheet and secure a gap between the outside of the extending portion and the containing member, thereby preventing the optical sheet from being shriveled by thermal transformation. An optical sheet generally has a rectangular form. A containing member contains the optical sheet and has a horizontal surface supporting the optical sheet. Extending portions(260) are protruded and extended to an outer direction in a side of the optical sheet. An inside position limitation portion(245) is formed vertically for the horizontal surface of the containing member to be opposite to the inside(262) of the extending portions and limits the position of the optical sheet. An outside position limitation portion(246) is formed vertically for the horizontal surface of the containing member to be opposite to the outside of the extending portions, and is formed longer than the inside position limitation portion.
