The air conditioning system (12) has a fuel cell system (14) for operating the air conditioning system, and an output device (106) i.e. vehicle-external output device e.g. display, for outputting system information about temperature of an interior (78) of a motor vehicle (10). The vehicle-external output device is assigned to a remote controller (104) or a mobile telephone, where the system information is transmitted to the remote controller over a radio transmission for controlling the air conditioning operation of the air conditioning system.
