A mobile terminal and a method for transmitting messages therein are provided to increase the convenience of users by enabling a user to send a message easily and directly through a simple key operation in the middle of call origination, without the necessity of closing the call origination operation and activating a message function through menu manipulation. A mobile terminal comprises an input part(104) and a control part(108). In case that the user inputs a message transmission request through the input part in the middle of call origination, the control part executes a message function according to the inputted message transmission request. In this case, the control part executes the message function after bringing the call origination operation to an end.
