An image forming apparatus is provided to reduce a frequency that a user replaces a developer cartridge and make the amount of developer, which is conveyed to a developing device, maintained stably. An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a developing device(5), a developer container, a discharging device, a first developer accommodation part, a first detection device, a first supply device, a second developer accommodation part, a second detection device, a second supply device, and a controller. The controller controls the discharging device so that the amount of developer in the first developer accommodation part is more than a first predetermined amount according to a detection result of the first detection device, and so that the amount of the developer in the second developer accommodation part is more than a second predetermined amount according to a detection result of the second detection device when the developer is accommodated in the developer container, and controls an image forming operation to continue until the amount of the developer in the first developer accommodation part becomes less than the first predetermined value and the amount of the developer in the second developer accommodation part becomes less than the second predetermined amount when the developer container is substantially empty. |
