The invention relates to novel dioxan derivatives of the formula R1-(A1-Z1)m-G-(Z2-A2)n-R2, in which G represents (I) or (II) and R1, R2, A1, A2, Z1, Z2, m and n are defined as cited in claim 1, to their use as a component or components in liquid crystal media and to liquid crystal and electrooptic display elements, which contain the novel liquid crystal media.
