NON-AQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE SECONDARY BATTERY

A nonaqueous secondary battery is provided to improve the stability to overcharge and to enhance high temperature cycle characteristics. A nonaqueous secondary battery comprises a positive electrode which contains 0.5-1.5 wt% of lithium carbonate; a negative electrode; a nonaqueous electrolyte which contains 0.5-2.0 wt% of a cycloalkylbenzene compound and/or a compound having a quaternary carbon adjacent to a benzene ring; and a pressure sensitive safety device which is operated by the increase of the internal pressure. Preferably the cycloalkylbenzene compound is cyclohexylbenzene; and the compound having a quaternary carbon adjacent to a benzene ring is t-amylbenzene.
