A hydrorefining process characterized by bringing an oil to be treated which comprises a petroleum hydrocarbon fraction that contains a fraction having a boiling point of 300°C or above and has a sulfur content of 0.5 to 4.5% by mass and a fatty oil component resulting from an animal or vegetable oil and having an oxygen content of 0.3 to 13% by mass into contact with a catalyst which comprises both at least one metal selected from among Group 6A and 8 elements of the periodic table and a porous inorganic oxide component containing aluminum oxide as the essential component in the presence of hydrogen.
