The hot forming of a steel piece of a given composition consists of: (a) the possible application of a heat treatment to procure a primary globular structure; (b) reheating to an intermediate temperature between the solidus and liquidus temperatures, in conditions such that the solid fraction presents a globular structure; (c) the thixotropic forging of the piece to form the component; (d) cooling the component produced. An Independent claim is also included for the steel component produced by this method.
