#CMT# #/CMT# The apparatus if for grinding the facets of necklaces and bracelets of precious stones. It involves each precious stone being in an indexable holder in relation to a rotating grinding wheel. The grinding wheel is moved close to the precious stone and the initial contact between the grinding wheel and the stone is detected. The extend is recorded of the displacement in relation to the initial position. The grinding wheel is brought back to the initial position. #CMT# : #/CMT# The foregoing stages are repeated for teh following precious stone indexed position and so on furthe runtil the complete periphery of the necklace or bracelet has been processed and recorded. The grinding wheel is displaced to the first recorded contact point with the necklace or bracelet of precious stones. A rise in the speed of the grinding wheel motor is detected, resulting from the friction between the necklace or bracelet and the grinding wheel.
