A method and article relating to a high strength erosion resistant titanium alloy are provided to be applied to a long turbine blade of a steam turbine by heat treating the titanium alloy without a beta anneal process. A method relating to a high strength erosion resistant titanium alloy includes the steps of: exposing the titanium alloy to a forging start temperature ranging from 1500° F to 1800° F; exposing the titanium alloy to an alpha-beta anneal process having a temperature ranging from 1550° F to 1850° F; exposing the titanium alloy to an aging process having a temperature ranging from 800° F to 1000° F for a length of time ranging from 1 hour to 24 hours; wherein the method does not include a method step comprising exposing the titanium alloy to a beta anneal process. The titanium alloy comprises 5~6.5wt% aluminum, 1.5~2.5wt% of tin, 1.5~2.5 wt% of chromium, 1.5~2.5wt% of molybdenum, 1.5-2.5wt% of zirconium, and titanium.
