An image forming device and method are provided to store a printing job in an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) when the received printing job uses a P1 sheet carrier path and to carry out a second transfer process when the received printing job uses a P2 carrier path for continuing to carry out the second transfer process even if a second fixing part is unusable, thereby increasing efficiency of the printing device without quality reduction of the printing process. A method of operating an image forming device comprises: checking whether printing job is received from a computer terminal(S1201); checking whether an unusable fixing part exists(S1202); checking whether a first fixing part is usable(S1208) if the unusable fixing part is present; checking whether the printing job transfers a sheet on a P1 sheet carrier path or a P2 sheet carrier path(S1203); carrying out a printing process based on the printing job(S1204); carrying out a first transfer process by a printer part(S1205); carrying out the printing process based on the printing job(S1206); carrying out a second transfer process(S1207); checking whether the printing job uses the P1 sheet carrier path(S1209); and displaying an error on an operating part to show that the fixing part is usable because the printing job is not operable, wherein the printing job with the error is stored in an HDD(S1210). |
