An apparatus and a method for protecting a motor from impact are provided to protect the motor from external impact by controlling PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signals according to the external impact. An apparatus for protecting a motor(100) from impact includes a position detector(110), a memory(120), a motor controller(130), and a motor driving unit(140). The position detector detects a current position of the motor. The memory stores the current position of the motor, final destination of the motor, and estimated positions of the motor per unit time from the current position to the final destination. The motor controller controls the driving of the motor based on the current position, the final destination, and the estimated positions of the motor. The motor driving unit generates PWM signals for driving the motor according to the control of the motor controller. |
