An image data processing method, an image processing method, a software module, and a machine-recordable media are provided to improve the perceived quality of a highly compressed image with pushing coding error with respect to highly occluded image factors. An image classifying system calculates unoccluded perimeter of an image factor(100) and an occluded perimeter of the image factor when it is occluded by other image factors(110). The system compares a ratio of the calculated values and a predetermined threshold value(120). If the ratio of the unoccluded perimeter and the occluded perimeter exceeds the threshold value, the system classifies the image factor as such belonging to a foreground layer(140). If not, the system classifies the image factor as such belonging to a background layer(130). The system codes the image factor by using one of a foreground coding method or a background coding method(150).
