摘要 A method for controlling a power saving mode in a SATA(Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) interface is provided to perform the power saving mode suitable for property requested from a system while keeping a SATA protocol by selecting the power saving mode regardless of the power saving mode requested from a transmitter, and realize the system property requested from a user by selecting a user defined power saving mode. A transmitter requests entry into a first or second power saving mode on a SATA protocol to a receiver(S710). The receiver selects one of the power saving modes(S720). It is determined whether the entry into the selected power mode is permitted or not(S730). The selected power mode is entered when the entry into the selected power mode is permitted(S740). The first power saving mode has a shorter wakeup time than the second power saving mode. The first power saving mode is a partial mode and the second power saving mode is a slumber mode. The power saving mode is selected from the first or second power saving mode by responding to a control signal without depending on whether an entry request requests the first or second power saving mode.
