A sound determining method and a sound determining apparatus are provided to specify a sound generation interval from an intended sound source easily under a noise environment. A sound determining apparatus receives audio signals from a plurality of audio receiving units(S101) and generates a frame of a certain time length(S103). the sound determining apparatus performs FFT on the audio signals to convert them into a phase spectrum and an amplitude spectrum, namely, signals on a frequency axis(S104), calculates a difference of phase spectrum at every frequency of each audio signal as a phase difference(S106), and selects a frequency to be processed(S107). The sound determining apparatus calculates a rate of frequencies in which an absolute value of the phase difference of the selected frequency is larger than the first threshold(S111). If the calculated rate is the second threshold or smaller(S112), the sound determining apparatus determines that the corresponding frame includes an audio signal from the nearest sound source(S113).
