The process for making a sintered silicon carbide porous body, comprises mixing first silicon carbide powder particles having an average diameter of less than 1 mu m with a solvent such as water in the presence of a binder, agglomerating the particles to constitute granules (90-10 wt.%) having an average size of 10-50 mu m by atomization or granulation, mixing granules with second silicon carbide powder particles having an average diameter of 5-20 mu m in the presence of a solvent such as water and a binder, and setting of the resultant mixture to obtain a green body. Dispersants or deflocculants are added to the binder. The setting of green body is obtained by pressing, extrusion, vibration, molding or casting under pressure. An independent claim is included for recrystallized silicon carbide porous body.
|
