A mail article franking machine (10) has a radio frequency identification type optical reader (10A) digitizing a destination address (12B) on the articles. A storage unit (10B) e.g. data base, stores digital images of the address and an identification number (12C) e.g. barcode. A communication unit sends the images to a server (14) of a dealer of the machine (10).
