An image forming device is provided to control moving velocity of a carriage in a velocity reduction section by using the moving velocity and reference velocity, and outputting calculated control velocity. An image forming device comprises a sensing unit(110), a first calculation unit(120), a second calculation unit(130) and a control unit(140). The sensing unit senses moving velocity and a position of a carriage. The first calculation unit calculates the moving velocity according to the position of the carriage when a velocity reduction section of the carriage is disclosed. The second calculation unit compares reference velocity reduced in the velocity reduction section with the calculated moving velocity, and calculates control velocity of the carriage. The control unit controls movement of the carriage according to the calculated control velocity, and controls the carriage so as to move with minimum velocity if the control velocity is calculated below predetermined minimum velocity.
