A plasma display device, and an apparatus and a method for driving the same are provided to generate easily erase discharge by applying a negative voltage to X-electrodes during an address period. A plasma display device includes a plasma display panel, drivers(300,400,500), and a controller(200). The plasma display panel includes plural row electrodes defined by first and second electrodes. The row electrodes are divided into first and second row groups. Each of the first and second row groups is divided into plural sub-groups. The drivers select non-illumination cells among illumination cells of the sub-groups while a negative first voltage is applied to the first electrodes during a first period and sustain-discharges illumination cells of at least one sub-group among sub-groups of the second row groups. The controller controls the drivers. The drivers include a voltage generator and a switch. The voltage generator generates the first voltage using a control signal having alternately high and low level signals outputted from the controller. The switch is connected between first electrodes and the voltage generator and turned on during the first period.
