[Class 46.] The cloth 4 covering each separate peripheral cell of a rotary drum suction filter is held in place over the cell by means of reinforcements 5 on its longitudinal edges, which cannot pass through the spaces left between adjacent cells or are held in undercut grooves. The cloths are drawn longitudinally over the cells, apertures being provided in the ends 2 of the drum for the passage of the hems. The cloths may be stretched over the cells by means of screwed bolts 11, Fig. 6, connected to rods 10 threaded in the hems. Springs may be provided on or replace the bolts 11. One or both ends of each cloth may be provided with a pocket 6, Fig. 2, which fits over a projection 7 on the end 2 of the drum. Or the ends of the cloth may be secured mechanically as by packing into grooves or by means of spring hooks. The cells may be formed to taper slightly in the longitudinal direction, adjacent cells being tapered in opposite directions or separated by tapering division members which provide independent slots for the adjacent edges of the cloths. |
