The mechanism (18) has a frame (40) integrated to a console case, and an actuating plate (42) mounted with respect to the frame between resting and actuating positions. An operative rod (44) is mounted with respect to the frame between releasing and locking positions of the case. A cable protective sleeve (50) including an incompressible upper region (90) along an increased length forms a protective conduit of the cable. The sleeve has an elastically compressible lower region (92) along the increased length and forms the bias spring that biases the plate towards the resting position.
