[Class 116.] In a pneumatic dispatch system for tickets &c. the ticket is byepassed from the main airstream into a guide 18, Figs. 3 and 5, disposed in a discharge terminal and freely open to the stream ; the ticket is discharged by striking a door 19 which is pivoted about an horizontal axis near its centre in such a way that the door normally remains closed but is readily opened by the impact of the ticket. The system may comprise a single tube with a series of dispatch terminals and one discharge terminal, or a series of tubes each with a discharge terminal and terminating in a panel slotted for the insertion of the tickets ; the ends of the tubes may be bell-mouthed and perforated for the intake or discharge of air. In either form the connection to the fan or blower may be made in front of the terminal or in the terminal itself ; in the latter case the air passes through apertures 23 into chambers 22 and thence to the blower by a chamber 24. The guide is of wire and the door, which may be of twin doors separately hinged and rigidly connected, of aluminium etc.; a seal of leather &c. may be placed around the top or both halves of the door aperture and a resilient stop 21 is also provided. The dispatch terminal may comprise a guide 8 leading to rollers 11, 12, Fig. 6, rotatable through gearing from a spring-controlled rack 9 or a thumb wheel. In another form, Fig. 8, the terminal is closed by a spring-closed hinged lid 16. |
