PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information retrieval device and an information retrieval method, easily checking unrecorded music of an arbitrary artist. SOLUTION: An information retrieval part 210 retrieves master music information 300 containing a designated artist name and management information 400 from a music information storage part 190 and a management information storage part 200, and an information providing part 220 extracts music albums except a music album shown by the management information 400 retrieved by the information retrieval part 210 from music albums shown by the master music information 300 retrieved by the information retrieval part 210, and provides music information of the extracted music albums. According to this, only music information of unrecorded music albums for the designated artist name can be obtained, and the unrecorded music of the arbitrary artist can be thus easily checked.
