PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce labor to check design information. SOLUTION: When a feature extracting means 4 receives design data to be retrieved, feature data 5 corresponding to the design data to be retrieved are extracted. The extracted feature data 5 are collated with feature data 7 associated with the feature relevant information 3 by a similarity retrieval means 6, and the design data associated with the feature relevant information are sequenced in a sequence similar to the design data to be retrieved, and at least one of the sequenced design data is narrowed down. Classification is carried out on the basis of the similarity of features to the group of the narrowed-down design data, and classification hierarchies are generated by a classification hierarchy generation means 8. Design information 10 is extracted, and design information whose relevance to the classification data is high is selected by a design information selection means 9. The classification data are displayed in a prescribed form as well as the design information selected by the design information selection means 9 by a display control means 11.
