PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly device of support mat for catalyst carrier that enhances work efficiency by automating many assembly steps, as well as increasing accuracy of assembly positions of support mat for catalyst carrier, and prevents malfunction from occurring during press fit into a container constituting one portion of an exhaust passage. SOLUTION: An assembly device of support mat for catalyst carrier includes: a pair of rotary drums 2 for rotating the catalyst carrier S arranged on an end edge of a recess 81 side of a support mat 8 placed on a placement stand 1, while sandwiching them to be abutted against both the end faces of the catalyst carrier S; a pair of securing mechanisms that press fits both the side edge portions of the end edge portion of a projection 82 relative to the catalyst carrier S by a claw from the back side of the end edge of the recess 81 side of the support mat 8 rotates integral with the rotary drums 2; a rotating drive mechanism 4a for wrapping the support mat 8 to which the side edge portions of the end edge portion of the recess 81 has been firmly secured by the both securing mechanism around the outer peripheral surface of the catalyst carrier S while rotating both the rotary drums 2; and a horizontal drive mechanism 4b for causing the placement stand 1 to move horizontally in synchronization with the peripheral velocity of the catalyst carrier S by the rotating drive mechanism 4a.
