PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a step provided in the conventional wheelchair has such a constitution as to rotate (be erected) using a structure for turning a step supporting rod for a step support, an inclined elbow or the like and to be stored in the erected state with its being laid along the opening outside of a frame of the wheelchair, however, the turning mechanism leaves problems in effectiveness and convenience when foldingly storing the wheelchair. SOLUTION: This structure of the wheelchair step consists of: an intermediate shaft having a screw shaft part provided in the step supporting rod of the wheelchair; a sheath tube part for the step support externally fitted to the intermediate shaft; a support shaft supporting a step bearing part provided in the sheath tube part projecting approximately orthogonally; the step bearing part coveringly fitted to the support shaft; the step extendingly provided to the bearing part; a detent consisting of the outer circumferential face of the sheath tube part, a clearance formed between the outer circumferential face of the sheath tube and a base end side of the bearing part, and a support piece having a hole fitted with the screw shaft part having an insertion piece to be inserted into the clearance; and a nut for fixing the detent.
