TITANIUM DIOXIDE FINE PARTICLES, DISPERSION, STRUCTURES, AND PROCESSES FOR PRODUCTION OF THEM

The invention provides anatase-type titanium dioxide fine particles in the form of a quadrangular prism having a (001) crystal axis in the major-axis direction and (100) side faces, in which the length and width of the fine particle in the minor axis are 20 to 100nm and the length thereof in the major-axis direction is 120 to 1000nm and which exhibit high crystallinity and highly dispersibility in a solvent. Further, the invention also provides a dispersion of the above titanium dioxide fine particles in a solvent; and a coating film which is formed by applying the dispersion to a substrate and in which crystals are oriented in (100) plane.
