MANUFACTURING METHOD OF HONEYCOMB STRUCTURAL BODY, AND HONEYCOMB STRUCTURAL BODY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a honeycomb structural body, which can manufacture the honeycomb structural body having an excellent strength and a large specific surface area.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the honeycomb structural body comprises the shaping process of manufacturing a columnar honeycomb molded body in which many cells are arranged alongside longitudinally at a distance from a cell wall using a raw material composition containing at least an inorganic particle and an inorganic fiber and/or a whisker and an inorganic binder, and the firing process of carrying out a firing treatment of the honeycomb molded body to manufacture a honeycomb fired body. An average particle diameter of the inorganic binder is 10-50 nm.
