PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk player capable of automatically selecting an optimal access system and accurately moving an optical pickup to a target access position at a high speed. SOLUTION: The time information of the current position of an optical pickup 105 is obtained from an optical disk 101 to calculate current physical position information and target physical position information (S1). A moving distance from the current position to a target position is calculated to calculate the number of necessary steps (S2). This calculated number of steps is compared with a threshold value (S3). If the number of steps exceeds the threshold value, a microcomnputer 109 carries out command control (servo control) for a servo LSI 108, and move the optical pickup 105 in the diameter direction of the optical disk 101 by a first or second moving system (S4). Meanwhile, if the number of steps does not exceed the threshold value, the optical pickup 105 is moved to a target position present in the diameter direction of the optical disk 101 by a third moving system.
