PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for controlling the setting of an input/output device in a process control system. SOLUTION: A device processor specifies a specific version of input/output communication software used by a control device, using an interface, specifies a version of input/output communication software compatible with the specific version of input/output communication software used by the control device, out of a plurality of versions of input/output communication software stored in a storage device, and uses the specified compatible version of input/output communication software.
