<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for magnifying image size, capable of magnifying the size of an image, while maintaining image quality. <P>SOLUTION: When a boundary detecting section 11 detects that an interpolation pixel is not positioned at a boundary region, on the basis of an inputted original image, an interpolation formula selecting section 12 selects a first interpolation formula. When the section 11 detects that the interpolation pixel is positioned at the boundary region, the interpolation formula selecting section 12 selects the interpolation formula that is weighted more than the first interpolation formula, to the reference pixel value of a reference pixel positioned, in a block having the most approximate reference pixel most approximate to the interpolation pixel among the predetermined number of reference pixels; and then a weighted interpolation section 13 executes interpolation processing, by using the selected second interpolation formula to calculate an interpolation pixel value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
