<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elliptic apparatus optimally applicable to all users as the stride in running is usually longer than the stride in walking, and therefore, the stride of fixed length does not ideally simulate the whole weight-bearing exercise. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus can be used by applying the force to foot support members on both sides and changing the geometrical relation between the foot support members and other parts of the device. Because of the changed geometrical shape, a flexible element rotates at least a part of a crank system.
