PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core yarn sewing thread having an excellent strength, sewability, improved appearance of stitches and excellent qualities. SOLUTION: In the core yarn sewing thread obtained by primarily twisting a substantially twistless core yarn composite yarn in which a short fiber bundle being a sheath yarn along the length direction is wound at a total weight ratio of 30-60% on the circumference of a filament yarn being a core yarn, collecting several composite yarns, secondarily twisting the collected composite yarns in a direction opposite to the primary twist direction, the core yarn sewing thread has an average tensile break strength of≥4.0 cN/dtex, a bending rigidity of≤0.005 gfcm<SP>2</SP>/piece and a bending recovery of≤0.006 gfcm/piece.
