The device has a helical compression spring (8) directly attached to a bodywork (3) through a spring end (11). The helical compression spring is directly connected with a wheel suspension (1) with another spring end (9) and thus directly connected with a wheel (5) of a vehicle e.g. passenger car. The helical compression spring is supported on a spring plate (12) with the spring end (11). The spring plate is continuously adjustable by an actuator (14) and the spring end (9) is supported by an eccentric bearing (10).
