A weight scale (10) with a balance control system that detects unequal load distribution is disclosed. The scale has a multiple load detection sensors (18) for measuring the load placed on a supporting surface (12). A visual indication (22) of the relative position of the centre of gravity of the load is provided. This display may be in the form of an array of lights or a set of movable feet located at each corner of the scale.
