A composition comprising hydrogen peroxide, glycolic acid and less than 50 weight percent water, and the use thereof in removing or dissolving a contaminant from an environment

A process for reducing the concentration of a contaminant in a waste treatment process is disclosed. The process includes selecting a composition which comprises of contacting selected ratios of hydrogen peroxide, glycolic acid, and low solids water. The low solids water is present in an amount of at least around fifty percent based on the total weight of the hydrogen peroxide, glycolic acid. The low solids water used in the above process comprises less than about ten parts per million dissolved solids.
