<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the degree of freedom of a method for setting a development parameter while utilizing a detection result of a face detection function in the development process of image data. <P>SOLUTION: In the image pickup device having a face detection function of detecting a face area in an image represented by an image signal on the basis of the image signal obtained by photographing an object, either a mode A for determining a development parameter for using a detection result by the face detection function to perform development processing of the image signal or a mode B for determining the development parameter without using the detection result by the face detection function is set (S102 and S103) to acquire an image signal (S106), and a face area is detected on the basis of the acquired image signal (S107), to determine the development parameter in accordance with the set mode (S109, S112 and S113), and the determined development parameter is used to perform development processing to the acquired image signal (S114). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
