<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus detecting statuses of an intermediate transfer belt to an image carrier such as status of primary transfer pressurized contact and status of primary transfer separation without using an exclusive sensor. <P>SOLUTION: After forming a toner image on the intermediate transfer belt 3 by a cyan cartridge 4B by rotating a mode switching mechanism 13, density of the formed toner image is detected by density detection means 6A or 6B. After that, detection of the statuses of the intermediate transfer belt 3 is carried out by a status detection means 2 based on the detection result. That is, since the status of the intermediate transfer belt 3 is carried out by the density detection means which are normally used in the image forming apparatus, the exclusive sensor is not necessary. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
