PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimming ballast having a long service life, and capable of precise dimming control with low noise. SOLUTION: This dimming ballast is a copper-iron type dimming ballast having a leakage transformer T supplying A.C. voltages to discharge lamps FLR1 and FLR2, and a first capacitor C0. In addition, the dimming ballast has second capacitors C1 and C2 connected in parallel to the first capacitor C0, and an energy-saving unit 2 being a control means capable of selectively cutting off the connection between the first capacitor C0 and the second capacitors C1 and C2.
