PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve penetration while maintaining the resolution of an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus for performing tissue harmonic imaging. SOLUTION: In the ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus, ultrasonic signals including a first waveform and a second waveform are transmitted at two or more times at a time interval in the same direction from a transmission part 35 which transmits the ultrasonic signals to an object through an ultrasonic probe 31, reception signals corresponding to the first waveform and reception signals corresponding to the second waveform, which are received by the ultrasonic probe, are phased and added by reception parts 37, 39 and 41, and images are generated on the basis of the phased and added reception signals. In the ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus, the first waveform and the second waveform are the waveforms which are time-inverted or polarity-inverted by the same frequency, and the reception parts phase and add the reception signals respectively corresponding to the first waveform and the second waveform by respectively amplifying or reducing them with the difference of gain.
