PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine equipped with an electronic governor which appropriately adjusts the maximum fuel injection amount according to atmospheric pressure conditions and is adaptable even when the rotational speed fluctuates by a load. SOLUTION: An atmospheric pressure sensor 9 is connected to an ECU 5, and the maximum rack position Rmax is controlled according to atmospheric pressure P or an estimated altitude H calculated from the atmospheric pressure P. The maximum rack position Rmax is automatically controlled in proportion to the atmospheric pressure P or the estimated altitude H, and the fuel injection amount is adjusted in correspondence to the atmospheric pressure P or the low and the estimated altitude H.
