PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large and thin interior lighting system for a vehicle capable of evenly lighting the whole interior of the vehicle and also improving an illumination stage effect. SOLUTION: In this interior lighting system for the vehicle lighting the interior of the vehicle, light guiding plates 20 that each includes a light guiding member having a structure that a light emitting surface 25 emitting light and an incident surface on which light is made incident planarly intersect, and a light source with a plurality of semiconductor light emitting elements arranged in parallel opposingly to the incident surface of the light guiding member, are provided on a ceiling side and a floor side with the light emitting surfaces 25 opposed to each other. An area of the light emitting surface 25 on the light guiding plate on the floor side is enlarged larger than an area of the light emitting surface 25 on the light guiding plate 20 on the ceiling side.
