<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication device and an authentication method attaining permanent biometric authentication with no risk of "spoofing" by forgery or the like. <P>SOLUTION: Scattered light is generated in deep tissue deeper than a blood vessel in vivo.
