<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic shelf label system capable of collecting information on visitors to a store without requiring human work and at as low a cost as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic shelf label system is made up of an electronic shelf label A installed adjacent to goods on display, and an inventory tag server with which a repeater 3 is connected for performing infrared communication with the electronic shelf label A. The installation place of the electronic shelf label A and the installation place of the repeater 3 are positioned in such a manner that if a person 9 is present in front of the installation place of the electronic shelf label A, the infrared communication between the repeater 3 and the electronic shelf label A is disconnected. If the electronic shelf label A detects the infrared communication disconnection, it transmits the duration of the disconnection to the shelf label server when the disconnection is released. The shelf label server counts persons who have stopped adjacent to the goods on display, by judging that a person has stopped adjacent to the goods on display if the duration of the infrared communication disconnection received from the electronic shelf label A is longer than the predetermined time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
